Merging Ideas and finding direction.

Ceative play in the 31 Janurary 2026 challenge has allowed me to experiment without boundaries. I can see an advantage of planning out subject matter for a 31 day stretch in advance, and also taking time to revisit desireable sketches logged in a sketchbook.

For me this far it has allowed clarity and freedom in my work. I've causally reverted back to mediums that I know will serve me and still allow me to push their limits.

My subjects have evolved into specimen studies and scientific collections interwound or fractioned. I want there to be something familiar, maybe unsettling, but mostly interesting about my work and the layers within it. Finding the connection between the subject, the art, the viewer, and an emotion/memory.

Plunging into the relationship of my work, the colors I choose, which pieces become available, and what for the viewer has been weighing on my practice and trajectory of work.

I can have multiple genres, mediums, subjects, and practices and still be Kellene Turner. Finding a niche or consistency in my work should be easy but welcome variety.  Murals, Fine Art, Illustrations are only the surface and descriptive avenues.

All of these should be an invitation for deeper thinking and expereinces. To what level should be determined by th viewer. Ulltimately allowing reflection, thought, stillness, and eventually dialogue.

This 31 day practice has created a mindful movement of clarity and great intention with confidence in my studio. One that I personally have needed for myself.

I'm thankful for this month to winter, dive into practices, reflect, and unlock parts of my work I have been stiffling for too long.

As always, thank you for following along and reading through. Works from my 2026 31 day challenge will be up on my website in different forms.
