The original 10”x10” wood internal canvas is wrapped with velvet and mounted in a box frame. The handpainted design is inspired by catholic church painted ceilings, adorned with gold. The hand cut wood fleur de lis sets off of the velvet to enhance the trompe l’oeil design. Flourishing layers of acanthus leaves burst from the design celebrating life, agriculture, equestrians, and city architecture. The structure of a bourbon barrel is present in the center of the bowtie, which is also elevated off the fleur de lis to give more of a sculptural feel to this piece.
